Dr. Philip Cheng, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Cheng is a physician-scientist who completed the combined M.D./Ph.D. Medical Scientist Training Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, he studied biochemistry and economics at UNC Chapel Hill before his internship at UT Austin's Dell Medical School and his ophthalmology residency at UT Southwestern.
He performs cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery, and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and has extensive experience treating dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration. A lifelong racquet-sports player, he enjoys cycling, traveling, and finding new restaurants with his family.
