Dr. John W. Branch, M.D.

Dr. Branch founded Texas Vision to deliver comprehensive clinical and personal care under one roof. Raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, he earned his degree from Clemson University and his medical degree from the University of South Florida, where he completed his ophthalmology residency and performed more cataract surgeries than anyone in the history of the program.

Before returning to Central Texas, he built and led a division of ophthalmology for the Greenville Hospital System in South Carolina, operating and lecturing to residents and medical students. His surgical focus spans cataract surgery, LASIK, and PRK, with particular expertise in advanced custom LASIK and implantable lenses for presbyopia. Outside the office, he's a marathon runner and cyclist who plays guitar and piano, and lives in the Austin area with his wife Melissa and their three children.

He is also the CEO and co-founder of VirtuaLens, the first-of-its-kind virtual reality IOL simulator (U.S. Patent No. 12,279,819) that lets cataract patients experience lens options in realistic scenarios before surgery. Launched nationally in 2025 and headquartered in Cedar Park, it grew directly out of the lens conversations he has with patients here, and Texas Vision patients use it as part of every premium-lens consultation.
